An outdoor weekend

This weekend I stayed around home. Friday night I went over to Nick and Nats and hung out for a little bit. On Saturday Dominic, Nick and I all went to the rock wall nearby and did some climbing. Then at night, we went to the local cinema and saw "Planet of the Apes". It was pretty good but it just made me cry because I hate thinking about research done to animals etc etc. The movie was in English with Korean subtitles so that was good. After the movie, we hung outside next to our apartments for a bit and there was so many gigantic bugs. There are spiders and spider webs all over my town. I am talking about huuuuuuge spiders. They are harmless but they are so big and you walk into their webs all the time. Its gross. The bugs we saw the other night were so big. Moths, grasshoppers and unknown insects. Sunday morning we took the motorcycles for a ride to the Yellow Sea. It was a beautiful day and when we got there we climbed all these massive rocks for a ways until we reached a rock face we could use to rock climbing. The scenery was unreal for Korea. I know there are some stunning sights in Korea but I have yet to see them so for me, this was the prettiest view Ive seen in Korea!  We stayed there for a few hours. We all climbed and even Natalie gave it a go. It was her first time, she loved it and now wants to come with us next time! We had to climb a lot more rocks to get to the beach to walk back to the bikes. On our walk back and I slipped off a loose rock and thought I busted my hip! i was scared to get up but I was okay in the end. I am just left with some cuts and scrapes and one really bad bruise and gash on my left calve. It hurts like crazy but I'll be okay!

Today, after school I went to the dentist to get a cavity filled. Last week, I went in for a cleaning and he told me I have a lot of cavities. The cleaning was very aggressive and painful. They did not polish or floss my teeth but they did use this horrific electric thing to clean the plaque. I swear she stuck it right into one of my fillings and I started to cry it was so painful! Getting my cavity filled wasnt terrible buuuut they do not using a numbing gel before they put the needle into your mouth. I wasnt aware of this so what I thought was a Q-tip to put gel in my mouth was two very unannounced needles into the roof and gums of my mouth! Wasnt too too painful but I wasnt expecting it. I have to go back next Monday to get another cavity filled as well : /
Yesturday, which was Tuesday, one of our students parents paid for all of us to go out to dinner. This happens at least once a month. We went to some "Italian" restaurant in town. All the staff from our school went. It was nice. In other work news, I am getting my oldest girl class back in September. They just got back from America and I will teach them again starting on the 1st for Tuesdays and Thursdays. I dont lose any classes because of this so it means 80 more minutes of work! Booo but I do really like those girls. I bet they will be very talkative after spending three months in Salt Lake City.
Today was a nothing special kind of day. Same old stuff at school and then I went to the gym. This weekend is going to be very busy with birthdays. I am celebrating two friends birthdays in different parts of the country on Friday and then Saturday. Its going to be exhausting!

The Wizard of Oz

...well not really. We were told we were taking our kids to see this play on Friday. Instead, it was this really random animal tricks show with monkeys, birds, snakes and dogs interwoven with scenes of The Wizard of Oz. Very strange but the kids seemed to enjoy it.

This is Roy. He is our newest student.

August Birthdays

So last Friday we had our August birthday celebration. Two of my students, Zoey and Coleen had their birthdays. It was also Jonny's birthday. They slicked his hair and gave him a combover, it was adorable! Hahhaa.
Here are some photos of the day.
Then during the weekend following the birthdays I went to Seoul. We had no school on Monday for Korea's Independence day so it was a nice long weekend. I hung out with my friend and her co workers and had a pretty fun weekend.

day 6 and 7

Now its Friday and we wake up to take a van to this place called Kawasan Falls. It was 4 hours to get there then 4 hours back! We didnt realize this when we planned the trip but oh well! The falls were very beautiful. We stayed there for only maybe two hours haha but it was worth the trip. We swam in the falls and had lunch there.

After our long journey home we we out to dinner then met up with Jamie and her friends and went out for the night. We were going to go this place called "The Loft" but it seemed too expensive and boring so we ended up at this locals club called P.U.M.P. It was a busy dance club in the middle of nowhere with all this outdoor seating as well where you could sit and eat and drink. We danced until about 5 am and then went back to the hotel. It was a fun last night out, really our only night that we stayed out!

We slept until our check out time and then hung out at the pool for the day, got more massages, and went shopping. Before we headed to the airport, we went to another Thai restaurant with our Korean friends and then got ready to fly home. Our flight was around 10PM, so we had another long overnight journey back to Korea. In Manila we had a long layover so we tried to sleep on the floor but it was freezing so we couldnt sleep! We played lots of ShangHai at the airport and eventually make it back to Incheon. I then had to wait two more hours for a bus to take me to my town but I made it home around 9PM on Sunday. Just in time to go to sleep and go to work in the morning!
Holiday over!!! I had a good time though, cant wait to be somewhere tropical again : )

Day 4 & 5

We spent day four as our last day in Bohol. I went diving one more time and it was great! The boat didnt make me feel nauseous this time and the diving went well too. I met up with my friends after diving and hung out by the pool. We swam with this little girl named Shakira. She was from Sweden or something but spoke good English. She was pretty crazy and we played mermaid barbies with her. We went out for drins and dinner that night and then played cards. Carolyn's family plays a game called ShangHai that involves three decks of cards. It was pretty fun.

The next morning we left to get the 2 hour ferry back to Cebu. We spent the day at the pool at the Montebello hotel again and got more massages in town. We went out to dinner at a Peruvian place which was really good. We went to bed early because the next morning we were heading on a journey we thought was two hours away. It ended up being 4 hours each way!

Here are some pictures from the trip in no order.
